Giving Tuesday Is One Day. At Amblebrook, Giving Goes Beyond It.

Giving Tuesday is on December 1st, 2026!

A food drive organized by a neighbor. A 5K that raises money for a local emergency response team. A club that turns a shared interest into an opportunity to help others. At Amblebrook, giving back takes many forms, and the people behind these efforts are  Amblebrook residents themselves.

This Giving Tuesday we’re celebrating some of the ways Amblebrook neighbors have contributed their time, talents and resources throughout the year. Their stories offer a glimpse into a community where getting involved can mean doing something you enjoy, supporting a cause you care about or simply finding a way to help.

A neighbor takes the lead

When the Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen needed food for upcoming meals this fall, Amblebrook resident Dave LaCroix headed a community food drive in October. The soup kitchen, which provides free, nourishing hot meals to people experiencing hunger, shared a specific list of needed items. A collection box in Amblebrook’s clubhouse library provided a place for donations, and the Soup Kitchen got the canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly, soups, pasta and breakfast cereals they needed.

A 5K with a bigger purpose

The annual Amblebrook 5K brings another dimension to giving back. Each year, the event benefits a different organization or charity, making it an opportunity to support a new local cause. In 2026, 76 people participated in the race, which raised $4,702.48 for NEAR, Amblebrook’s resident‑run, independent local emergency response team.

Residents also volunteered to help make the event happen.

Different interests. Shared generosity.

Not every opportunity to give back involves a big event. Sometimes it begins with a club, a shared hobby or a simple decision to lend a hand. Members of Amblebrook’s Culinary Club, for example, prepare food each month for the Adams County Rescue Mission, bringing their interest in cooking to a recurring charitable effort.

Amblebrook’s American Red Cross blood drive offered another way to make a difference in the local community. Forty donors registered, and 45 units of blood were collected, exceeding the goal by 11 units. According to the Red Cross, those donations could help save up to 135 lives. And in May, Amblebrook residents raised nearly $1,000 through the American Heart Association Heart Walk.

Beyond Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday shines a spotlight on generosity once a year. At Amblebrook, that generosity extends across the calendar, from a spring fundraiser to a fall food drive and recurring club activities.

There’s no single way to get involved. Whether you’re drawn to a particular cause, enjoy participating in community events or want to share your talents through a club, you can find opportunities that reflect your interests.

And, of course, giving back is just one part of life at Amblebrook. It’s also one more way to discover what makes this community special: the people who live here and the many ways they come together.
