Summer at Amblebrook, Your Way

Summer at Amblebrook at Gettysburg came with live music at the Amphitheatre, pool time with visiting grandchildren, local vendors at Days of Joy and a neighborhood potluck at the Beach Party.

Together, those moments show a season that can be lively, relaxed or a little of both, with plenty of ways to join in and set your own pace.

A calendar full of possibility

In June alone, Amblebrook offered more than 480 events, activities, classes, club gatherings and interest‑group meetings. Some days, that might mean discovering a new interest. Other days, it might mean deciding your own back patio sounds better than any of it.

Days of Joy brought even more energy to Amblebrook. Live music set the tone throughout the weekend as visitors browsed local vendors, enjoyed food‑truck fare, watched cooking demonstrations and joined the Model Village block party. Everywhere they turned, there was another reason to stay, explore and enjoy the community.

Days of Joy filled the Great Lawn with live music, local vendors and food trucks over one summer weekend.

Summer is better when family joins in

With AmbleKids, a visit from the grandchildren comes with more ways to enjoy the time together. With support from resident‑led clubs, children cooked, made crafts, followed clues on a nature scavenger hunt and spent long afternoons at the pool. The activities filled the day.

Residents generously gave their time and energy for other residents, evidence of the true sense of community that makes Amblebrook at Gettysburg feel like home. They shared their interests and their time with the next generation, which turned a calendar item into a meaningful memory and made active adult living feel personal.

Pool afternoons gave grandparents and grandchildren the same reason to stay a little longer.

The soundtrack of summer

The Summer Concert Series brought performers to the Amphitheatre on select weekend evenings, including Steph and That Guy, a German brass band and the Jersey Tenors. Music at the Market paired the farmers market with live sets, including the Generations Band, made up of residents and their family members.

The Beach Party kept a more casual rhythm, with music from the AmbleBand, drinks from Fourscore Beer and a neighborhood potluck. It was the kind of gathering where you could arrive on your own and stay longer than you planned.

There is plenty to do and no pressure to do it all

The best part of summer activities at Amblebrook may be that you decide how much you want to do. Fill your calendar with concerts, clubs and celebrations. Meet friends at the pool. Invite the family for a weekend. Or let an afternoon pass without a plan and count that as a good day.

If you are comparing active adult communities in Gettysburg or 55+ communities near Baltimore or Washington, D.C., this is the part worth seeing for yourself: a full social life that still leaves room to live on your own terms. At Amblebrook, More Everyday Joy can look like a communitywide celebration or one unhurried evening with people you are glad to call neighbors.

Not every summer evening needs a plan. Some are simply a good chair and a familiar view.
